I am passionate about creating beautiful web applications and experiences that improve how a company works. I focus my efforts on Adobe ColdFusion because I think it's a magnificent development platform, although I believe in using all of the development tools at my disposal.
I want to utilize my skill, talent, and expertise for building custom web applications with a focus on user experience, monetization, fluid and responsive design, mobile accessibility, and search engine optimization. I enjoy working with a team of creative minds to build cutting-edge web applications. I want to innovate and add value to the company for which I am employed with my skills and experience.
When I'm asked what I want out of where I work, I tell people that I look for four things:
I've been building web applications for more than 20 years, and every day I learn something new. I want to continue to develop my expertise and hone my craft to build even better experiences moving forward.
Once I have an understanding of what the goals are and the objectives that need to be achieved, I appreciate the opportunity to be self-directed; to dive into a project and be able to immerse myself to be focused on getting the job done.
There's no better feeling than creating a tool, or an application and delivering it to my client and knowing that it's going to make their job easier. I appreciate feeling like what I do matters, and seeing the contribution I am making to the company.
I am an experienced manager, and I know how to work well with other people. I want there to be a clear indication of who the leadership is expected to be and the direction projects need to take.
I've always been a firm believer that in order to receive the most productivity from your employees, you should pay them well enough so that the issue of money is off the table. If I'm not worried about my expenses, I can focus on the tasks at hand, and my salary expectations reflect just that.
Take 10 minutes and watch this video. It clearly defines what motivates me as a developer.

Here's what others have said about my work.
David is communicative, insightful and always offers suggestions towards improvement in every possible area. He considers the user and the results, equally. His diligence, capability and can-do attitude is so very much appreciated. In addition to owning our project and communicating daily, he has put forward suggested improvements that I wouldn’t have considered had he not brought them to light. He sees the big picture while managing the minute details with professionalism. A true rock star in every sense of the word.”
Besides being a joy to work with, David is a take-charge person who is able to present creative ideas and communicate the benefits. He has successfully designed and developed several web portal interfaces that have resulted in increased revenue and an improved, more consistent user experience. His knowledge base and skill set are constantly evolving to adapt the current technology landscape. David is a team player and would make a great asset to any organization."
David is very talented, motivated, and dedicated. He produces exceptional work, takes direction well, and shows initiative by offering new creative and practical ideas. He continuously improves his skills by learning the most up-to-date development techniques quickly, significantly increasing efficiency for various projects. He has acted as web developer, videographer, and creative designer, and works well with clients, vendors, and fellow employees."
I hired David as the Technology Manager responsible for helping to scope a complete overhaul of WGBH's digital infrastructure, develop the right relationship with our vendors and develop the front and back end code base across our various systems to get to that next level. David has a great technology background and was quick to help formulate the right strategy. At the same time he is capable of rolling up his shirtsleeves and do what was necessary to hammer out code. He single handedly helped us roll out a new version of the WGBH.org site while reducing the overall cost and dependency of our vendors and delivering a better user experience in order for us to continue increasing revenue on the site. David helped to push forward some terrific technology projects (launching new sites, mobile sites, video/audio integration, CRM and eCRM initiatives and supporting digital marketing campaigns) while also delivering great customer service. Everyone enjoys working with David. I appreciated David's ability to do what it takes to get the job done, as well as his ability to grasp complex technology requests and to push back with his own opinion when he thought we were not moving in the right direction. We would typically have great discussions, then come to a decision that was informed by the group. David provided strong, well-formed opinions that were backed up with experience and fact, but he was not entrenched in any one position. All of David's professional qualities go a long way but what also really matters is that he was genuinely a nice guy and has a great sense of humor."
